SHIPMENT OF LOCALLY MANUFACTURED GOODS, OWN WORKS AND SERVICES

During 6 months of 2010, the volume of shipment of locally manufactured goods by large and medium-sized entities of Petrozavodsk Municipality made 8,3 billion RUR or 108,2% compared to the similar time in 2009 (129,7% for the whole republic).

Power generation during 6 months of 2010 made 680,8 million kWth in natural terms (114,4% compared to the similar time in 2009), heat — 1356,8 thousand Gcal (111,5%).

PROCESSING INDUSTRIES

During 6 months of 2010, the shipment of own-produced goods by large and medium-sized entities within the sector «Production Industries» made 3,1 billion RUR, including:

  • Production of machines and equipment — 130,9 million RUR, or 27,1%;
  • Production of food products and beverages — 1161,9 million RUR, or 104,4%;
  • Production of prefabricated metal goods — 830,8 million RUR, or 159,6%;
  • Pulp-and-paper production, publishing and printing business — 45,1 million RUR, or 112,6%;
  • Production of non-metallic mineral products — 32,8 million RUR, or 238,1%;
  • Production of transportation means and equipment — 338,3 million RUR, or 101,9%;
  • others.

CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

The volume of the works done within the sector «Civil Construction» by large and medium-sized entities in Petrozavodsk Municipality made 2190,4 million RUR during 6 months of 2010, what is twice as much as during the same time in 2009 (by 1,6 times more for the republic). The municipality holds 88,6% of all works within this sector in the Republic.

The total amount of apartments commissioned during 6 months of 1020 was 36040,7 sq. m, what is 39,3%  from the annual plan.

CONSUMER MARKET

The turnover of retail sales by large and medium-sized entities of Petrozavodsk Municipality made 5,9 billion RUR during 6 months of 2010, or 109,4% compared to the similar time in 2009 in comparable prices (114,2% in the republic).

The turnover of catering in large and medium-sized entities of all types of activities was 96,1 million RUR during 6 months of 2010, or 58,3% compared to the similar period in 2009 in comparable prices.

PAID SERVICES

The volume of paid services provided to the people of the municipality during 6 months of 2010 made 3,5 billion RUR, what is 6,9% increase compared to the similar period of 2009 in actual prices.

The main share in the total volume of paid services belongs to municipal utilities (35,6%), communication services (26,1%), transportation services (17,2%), educational services (10,2%). They cover 89,1% of the total volume of services provided to people.

SMALL BUSINESS

The profile of small business on the territory of Petrozavodsk Municipality has not changed during the recent years: retail and whole sales, catering, repairs of vehicles and electric appliances makes almost 50%, processing industries and forestry — about 12%, transactions with real estate, rent and services — 13%, civil construction — 9%, transport and communication — 7%, hotels and restaurants — 5%.

As of 01.07.2010, 3,7 thousand small businesses were registered on the territory of the municipality as well as 9,4 individual entrepreneurs.

During 6 months of 2010, the average number of employees in small business was about 43 thousand people on the territory of the municipality or 31% of working population.

INVESTMENTS

During 6 months of 2010, the investments in capital assets made 877,6 million RUR or 72,0% compared to the similar period in 2009.

Most investments in capital assets were made in purchasing machines, equipment and means of transport — 51,9% (38,2% during 6 months in 2009), as well in construction and reconstruction of buildings (besides dwellings) and structures — 26,3% (40,0% during 6 months in 2009).

In terms of the types of economic activities, the biggest investments in capital assets were made in the sectors with the highest rate of return and shortest payback period: production and distribution of electricity, gas and water — 21,0% (9,4% during the similar period of time); transactions with real estate, rent and services — 18,9% (22,6%), state management — 15,6% (19,3%), and transport and communication — 11,6% (12,4%).

FINANCES

During 6 months of 2010, large and medium-sized enterprises of Petrozavodsk Municipality gained 1163,4 million RUR of returns, what was 53,8% more than during the similar period of 2009. As of 01.07.2010, the positive remitted financial output was 693,8 million RUR. The share of profitable enterprises among the total number of enterprises analyzed made 62,1% (95 enterprises), unprofitable — 37,9% (58 enterprises), during the similar period of 2009–59,4% and 40,6% respectively.

EMPLOYMENT

The number of people working at large and medium-sized enterprises of Petrozavodsk Municipality in January-May 2010 made 76,1 thousand people (by 2,2% smaller compared to the similar period of 2009).By types of economic activities the average number of the employees looks as follows: education — 13,8 thousand people; transport and communication — 12,1 thousand people; state management, security and obligatory social security — 12,0 thousand people; health and social services — 10,5 thousand people; in processing industries — 5,5 thousand people; retail and whole sales; repairs of vehicles, motorcycles, electric appliances and personal belongings — 4,6 thousand people; transactions with real estate, rent and services — 4,1 thousand people; production and distribution of electricity, gas and water — 3,9 thousand people; municipal utility and social services — 3,6 thousand people; financial activities — 2,8 thousand people; construction — 1,9; hotels and restaurants — 0,6 thousand people; others — 0,9 thousand people.

As of 01.07.2010, the number of officially registered unemployed people in Petrozavodsk Municipality was 3435 (28,2% of the total number of the unemployed in the republic), the unemployment rate was 2,2%.

LIVING STANDARDS

The average monthly salary of 1 employee of large and medium-sized enterprises of Petrozavodsk Municipality was 21835,5 RUR in January-May 2010, what is by 7,6% more than during the similar period of 2009.
